Usually, the squared symbol is used when you type mathematical expressions and in the text. To type the squared symbol, you should have superscripts. Microsoft Outlook uses super-scripting, similar to the Microsoft Office Suite. If you wish to type a squared symbol in the Outlook app, follow the below-mentioned steps how to type squared in outlook.

  • Step : 1 On your Windows computer, launch the Outlook app by giving a double-click on the Outlook shortcut icon on the desktop.
  • Step : 2 Alternatively, click the Start menu and type 'outlook' in the search panel.
  • Step : 3 From the search result, give a double-click on the Outlook app.
  • Step : 4 Once the Outlook app launches, click the New Email button at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step : 5 After entering the recipient's email address and subject, click into the body of the email and type the character.
  • Step : 6 After entering the character or number, type number 2 to the right of the character.
  • Step : 7 Give a right-click on the number and select the Font option.
  • Step : 8 Enable the Superscript checkbox and click the OK button to square the symbol.
  • Step : 9 Alternatively, highlight the number 2 first and then press the Ctrl and Shift keys.
  • Step : 10 Hold them and click the + key to change the selected number to superscript.
  • Step : 11 The combination of Ctrl, Shift, and + key will toggle the cursor between superscript and normal script.
  • Step : 12 If it is difficult, press and hold the Alt key. 
  • Step : 13 Type '0178' and release the Alt key to enter squared in the Outlook mail.
  • Step : 14 If you aren't able to use the methods mentioned above to type squared in the Outlook app, copy and paste the squared symbol from the Character Map.
  • Step : 15 To do so, click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen and type 'run' in the search panel.
  • Step : 16 From the search result, give a double-click on the Run tab to open the Run dialog box.
  • Step : 17 Alternatively, you can launch the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys.
  • Step : 18 Type 'charmap' in the text field and hit the Enter key.
  • Step : 19 When the Character Map is opened, select the Squared  symbol and click the Copy button.
  • Step : 20 Paste the copied symbol in the body of your email on the Outlook app.
