Steps To Setup Gmail Pop3 Settings

If you are annoyed with accessing your Gmail account from a web browser each time, you can configure it in an email client like Outlook. You can configure your Gmail account using POP or IMAP. In this article, we shall see the Gmail POP3 settings to configure your email account in Outlook.

Enable POP in your Gmail account

Before setting up your Gmail account in Outlook with the Gmail POP3 settings, you have to enable the POP feature in it.

  • To do this, access your Gmail account from a web browser.
  • Open the Settings screen and click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  • Go to the POP download section.
  • Select the Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on radio button.

  • Choose your preferred option from the When messages are accessed with POP drop-down menu.

  • Finally, click the Save Changes button.

The incoming and outgoing server details for Gmail are provided below for your reference.

  • Server address - pop.gmail.com
  • Port - 995
  • SSL required - Yes

  • Server address - smtp.gmail.com
  • Port - 465

Step 1

  • Launch the Microsoft Outlook 2007 email client.
  • Choose the Account Settings option from the Tools menu.

  • To manually set up Outlook 2007 with Gmail POP3 settings, select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types checkbox.

  • At the bottom, click the Next button.

  • Click the Internet E-mail radio button.

  • In the User Information section, fill the Your Name and Email Address fields.

  • Account type - POP
  • Incoming mail server - pop.gmail.com
  • Outgoing mail server - smtp.gmail.com
  • In the Logon Information section, type your Gmail email address and password in the User Name and Password fields, respectively.
  • To configure the email server, click the More Settings button.

Step 6

  • Click on the Outgoing Server tab and select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  • Click the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.

Step 7

  • Type 995 in the Incoming server field.
  • Choose the SSL option from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down menu.
  • Enter 465 in the Outgoing server field.
  • Click the OK option to save the server settings.

Step 8

  • To test the email account settings, click the Next button.

  • Once you click Finish, your email account will be added to Outlook 2007 with Gmail POP3 settings.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Outlook 2010 and click the File tab.

Click the Add Account button.

For the manual email setup, click Manually configure server settings or additional server types -> Next.

Select Internet E-mail -> Next.

Fill the required fields with valid details and click the More Settings button.

  • Go to the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication -> Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Step 7

Make sure to save the server settings.

Step 8

  • Once you click the Next button, the Outlook 2010 email client will test the email account settings.
  • Wait until you see the You have successfully entered all the information required to setup your account message.
  • Click Finish to complete the configuration of Gmail POP3 settings in Outlook 2010.

GMAIL POP3 SETTINGS FOR OUTLOOK 2013

Step 1

Launch Microsoft Outlook 2013 and click the File tab at the top.

On the Account Information screen, click the Add Account button.

Select Manual setup or additional server types -> Next -> POP or IMAP -> Next.

Fill the required fields with the correct information.

  • Click More Settings -> Outgoing Server. Now, you have to select the options mentioned here.
  • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

  • In the Advanced tab, enter the POP and SMTP port details and click OK.

Click Next -> Close -> Finish to complete setting up the Gmail POP3 settings in Outlook 2013.

Step 1

  • Open Microsoft Outlook 2016 on your computer.
  • Click File -> Info -> Add Account.

  • Now, type your Gmail email address in the Email address field.
  • Click the Connect button.
  • Note: If Outlook 2016 does not detect the account settings, you have to provide the Gmail account details to add your email account manually.

Navigate to the Password field, enter your Gmail password, and click the Connect button.
