Aol Mail Settings For Outlook

The below set of instructions will assist you in configuring the AOL mail settings for Outlook 2010, 2013, and 2016 application.

Before going into the configuration process, check the POP3, IMAP, and SMTP settings of the AOL Mail.

Protocol POP3

  • Step : 1 Incoming Mail Settings (POP3) is pop.aol.com
  • Step : 2 Port Settings: 995 (SSL)

Protocol IMAP

  • Step : 1 Incoming Mail Settings (IMAP): imap.aol.com
  • Step : 2 Port Settings: 993 (SSL)
  • Step : 3 The Outgoing Mail Server address for the IMAP and POP3 protocol is same, i.e., smtp.aol.com 
  • Step : 4 Port Settings of Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): 465 (SSL)

Steps to perform the AOL account configuration in Outlook automatically

  • Step : 1 Launch the Outlook application on your system.
  • Step : 2 Click the File menu followed by Add account.
  • Step : 3 Ensure that the Info option is selected in the same window.
  • Step : 4 Now, a pop-up dialog box will appear on the screen, prompting you to enter your AOL mail address.
  • Step : 5 Enter it in the given field and click the Connect command button.
  • Step : 6 When prompted, enter your AOL email account’s password in the given field.
  • Step : 7 Click the Connect button followed by Done.
  • Step : 8 The Outlook application will automatically detect your AOL account.
  • Step : 9 Once it is done, your AOL account’s messages will be downloaded by the Outlook application.
  • Step : 10 By using these steps we can configure AOL mail settings for Outlook application.

Manual method (IMAP):

  • Step : 1 Click File > Info > Add Account.
  • Step : 2 Select the Manual setup or additional server types option by clicking the radio button beside it.
  • Step : 3 Choose the POP or IMAP option on the Add Account dialog box.
  • Step : 4 Click the Next button.
  • Step : 5 Now, the POP and IMAP Account Settings window will open.
  • Step : 6 In the User Information section, type your name in the Your Name field and the email address in its field.
  • Step : 7 Select the IMAP option as the Account Type under the Server Information section.
  • Step : 8 Type imap.aol.com in the Incoming mail server text field and smtp.aol.com in the Outgoing mail server field.
  • Step : 9 In the two fields below the Logon Information section, enter your AOL account email address and its password.
  • Step : 10 Now, click the More Settings button on the same screen.
  • Step : 11 Click the Outgoing Server tab.
  • Step : 12 Choose the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  • Step : 13 Navigate to the Advanced tab.
  • Step : 14 Enter 993 in the Incoming server (IMAP) text box and 465 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) text box.
  • Step : 15 Make sure that the SSL option is selected.
  • Step : 16 If not, select it and click the OK button.
  • Step : 17 Now, you will be returned to the Add Account window.
  • Step : 18 Click the Next button on it.
  • Step : 19 Now, a test email message will be sent to your account automatically to check if the configuration is done correctly.
  • Step : 20 If the configuration is done successfully, the Completed status message will be displayed.
  • Step : 21 Click the Close button in the Test Account Settings dialog box.
  • Step : 22 If the email test process does not begin automatically, click the Test Account Settings command button in the Add Account dialog box.
